Car Races
Every year Palma de Mallorca hosts a classic auto
racing event at the International Trofeo Baleares Clasico. This
show is open to the public and car enthusiasts qualify to enter
the races with a car dated between 1930 to 1976 to qualify.
Scuba Diving/Snorkeling
Mallorca is a wonderful place to learn to scuba
dive. The water is safe and clean and provides for excellent visibility.
There are good schools in several locations but make sure that the
dive center has a licence. Begineers can snorkel in the shallow
clear waters by the rocks and more advanced divers can head out
to deaper waters and experience what the mighty ocean has to offer
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing in Mallorca is not only a popular
adventure sport for tourists but a great location for the more advanced
rock climber. Enthusiasts can push the limits as they ascend the
vertical rock walls. There are several shops that sell speciality
rock climbing equipment but it is recommended that you bring your
own.
Golfing
Palma de Mallorca has has about 14 excellent golf
courses that attract tourists in large numbers benefiting the islands
economy. Most of these golf courses are on resorts or time shares.
A round of golf on one of these courses can be pretty expensive
because of the high cost of maintaining these courses due to the
shortage of water.
Miscellaneous Activities
Horse rentals are available by the hour or by
the day. It is a lot of fun for the novice rider as well as the
advanced. Learn to ride by taking classes or just explore the beautiful
countryside on your own.
Balooning season in Mallorca is from March through
October. Baloon rides can be purchased which allow for wonderful
sights of the entire island and sea as well as the neighboring islands.
Buggy and horse racing in Mallorca can be an exciting activity for
family or a group of friends. Its held every sunday at the Hipodromo
Son Pardo.
