Activities: La Janda
Explore Vejer
The first thing a traveler should do on arriving
in Vejer is to wander through the maze of narrow streets and squares
of the old medieval town. As the streets zigzag up and down, it
is easy to lose your way, but don't worry enjoy the townscape. Castles,
convents, palaces, and churches can all be found in the confines
of the beautiful white walled city.
Biking and Horseback Riding
A great way to see the countryside around Vejer
is to ride a bicycle or horse out to the windmills. These particular
windmills only recently stopped producing wheat and olive oil so
they are in good condition and are as authentic as can be. A Roman
aqueduct and grazing bulls from local bullfighting ranches can be
seen as well.
The Beach
No visitor should miss taking a walk along one
of the wide beaches foundnear Vejer de la Frontera. El Palmar Beach
is well preserved because the authorities allow no construction
nearby, and it is free from crowds and ideal for resting or surfing.
Canos de Meca Beach is full of life and fun, it has more visitors
but its cove is great for wind surfing.
Other Activities
Paragliding, snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing,
Grazalema Nature Park, and hiking.
