Transportation
Train
San Sebastian is a relatively
small city so walking is the best way to explore the city. For slightly
longer distances you can use the public transport system.
The railway system is quite
efficient and reliable. The train can transport you to any major
city in Spain and France.
Taxi
Taxis are definitely the quickest
and most efficient way to get around town but is comparitively more
expensive. All taxis have meters that indicate the amount due, however
the rates do vary depending on the time and the area covered. These
rates are regulated by publicly displayed fares. To still avoid
any kind of dispute it is advisable to negotiate a fixed rate to
your destination before boarding the vehicle.
Bus
City Buses are quite effective
and reliable. From the main bus station there are links to almost
all other parts of the city including the airport, train station
and downtown. Buses are clean, efficient, and the route systems
are quite extensive. They are also a much cheaper option than the
taxi.
