Guggenheim
Museum (Bilbao)
The stunning Guggenheim Museum
was constructed in the mid 1990s. The building in the form of a
ship, it is considered a masterpiece of 20th century architecture.
It houses many great works of modern art. It includes American Pop
Art, European avant-garde, and American and European post war art.
The purpose of the museum is to help visitors understand and interpret
the works of Modern and contemporary art. The Guggenheim has transformed
Bilbao into one of the hottest destinations in Europe.
Museo San Telmo
San Telmo Art Museum dates back to the 1500s and
is housed in an old monastery located in the old district. On display
are ethnographic collections and galleries of exquisite sculptures,
paintings, and frescoes by renowned artists like Rubens and El Greco,
completely dedicated to contemporary Basque art.
Naval Museum
The Naval Museum is an exhibition of tools about
traditional shipbuilding and the history and evolution of ships,
ports, trade, and navigational instruments in the Basque Country.
Diocesan Museum
The exhibits of the museum include paintings, images,
and other objects of religious art of the Diocese of San Sebastian.
