Methodology: Lacunza
Lacunza
is part of the prestigious international organization known as International
House. Members of this organization use the "Communicative
Method" as the foundation for the teaching of languages. This
method involves using the students' opinions, feelings and experiences
as a resource in the classroom to personalize the language being
introduced or practiced. Lacunza encourages pair and group work
to help the students to get more practice. This method also requires
that each teacher spend time listening to each student and providing
a high level of personalized attention to each participant.
Using
the "Communicative Method" does not mean that Lacunza
ignores thestructures and the grammar of the language. Each morning
students will learn and practice new structures as well as extending
their skills abilities and increasing and activating their vocabulary.
So what is the difference? Well to sum it up - Lacunza makes learning
interesting, challenging and fun! Using a wide variety of simulations,
role-playing, discussions and language games the school keeps students
motivated by keeping them stimulated, and making sure that they
practice real skills in preparation for real life situations.
General
Spanish classes at Lacunza are available throughout the year and
students may enroll at any time. You have the choice of taking group
classes, a combination of group and private classes, or strictly
private classes. Classes range from beginners to advanced. The average
class size is eight and the maximum is twelve allowing each student
to get plenty of individual attention to make maximum progress.
Private classes are available throughout the year, and the school
also offers "Mini group" classes during the summer months.
