Activities: Lacunza

 

The list below is an example of some of the many activities, trips and excursions that Lacunza organizes throughout the year. Activities will change depending on student interest, time of year, etc. The items below are listed to give you a general idea of some of the things you will be able to to while studying Spanish at Lacunza. All students are invited to participate, whether they are in an intensive course or in another course. Expenses involved must be paid be the student (bus tickets, entrance to museums, etc.)

One Day Trips

  • Visit the Guggenheim Museum of modern art in Bilbao.
  • See the running of the bulls in Pamplona!
  • Check out the most elegant and famous southern French city of Biarritz.
  • San Juan de Luz: A lovely French town just across the boarder.
  • Visit the Basque state of Guipuzcoa.

Half-Day Trips

  • San Sebastian: Igueldo, Peine de los Vientos, Miramar.
  • Take a short one-hour boat tour of the small fishing village of Pasajes de San Juan.
  • Fuenterrabia: an enchanting old town
  • Surfing Zarauz: Many surfers are attracted to the waves in Gros, Mundaka, Hossegor.
  • Guernika: An innocent city destroyed by Nazi Germany's bombing runs in the late 30s.

Cultural& Social Activities

  • Films, either in the school or in the cinema
  • Visits to museums
  • Intercambio parties: Lacunza invites Spanish people who have an interest in meeting people at the school. It is a great way to make friends and practice Spanish.
  • Festivals, concerts, etc.
  • Lectures at the school on various topics of interest
  • Short courses on specific subjects that range from culture to specific areas of the Spanish language

Sports

  • Play Soccer and volleyball on the beach.
  • Mountain Biking
  • Play pelota vasca "Jai Alai"
  • Canoeing in the bay
  • Horseback Riding
  • Thermal Baths
  • Dancing Lessons
  • Golf

The Municipal Sports Council in San Sebastian is very active, and if you become a member you can get into the sports centers and take part in the organized courses. In summer they run courses in 20 different sports ranging from surfing, canoeing, sailing, to tennis, hang-gliding or climbing.
