Alcazaba
Alcazaba is an arab monument
built by King Badis of Granada in the 11th century. built this Arab
monument as a fortified palace in the 11th century. It is a major
landmark of city and with its attractive gardens, fountains and
beautiful landscapes is definitely an impressive sight. There are
ten major towers with unique features that take you through the
gateways of Puerta de las Columnas, Arco del Cristo and Arcos de
Granada. The palace also houses an archaeological museum. The terraces
offer magnificent views of the town and harbor.
Cathedral
There are several beautiful
historic churches in Malaga. The Cathedral of the Incarnation is
one such church. Construction started in 1528 and took a couple
of centuries in several architectural styles due to the several
architects worked on it. The interior of the Cathedral houses many
beautiful works of art to accent its eclectic style. The side chapels
also contain interesting works including Pedro de Mena's Weeping
Mother, Alonso de Mena's Christ on the cross and a large Virgin
of the Rosary by Alonso Cano.
Castillo Gibralfaro
TCastillo de Gibralfaro (Castle
of Gibralfaro) is a characteristic feature of the landscape of Malaga.
This 14th century building along with the castle's light house was
built by Yusef 1 of Granada. Its towers rise majestically above
the hillside among the pine, willow and cypress trees.
Museums in Malaga
Malaga has several museums definitely worth visiting.
The Picasso Museum has several of his works and personal items on
display. The Picasso foundation is his birthplace where exhibitions,
concerts and lectures are often held. The Museum of Archaeology,
and Museum of Fine Arts are also very interesting
