Madrid has one of the best transportation systems in Europe. Even with its large population navigating the public transportation system and getting around is easy.

The most efficient way to get around is to hop on the metro where the tickets are relatively cheap. It is also possible to get a Metro-Bus ticket for a combination of the two modes of transport.

For travelers who want to see the city from above the ground, bus and taxi systems are the obvious choices. Buses are convenient with service to every nook and corner of the city. However for visitors it can be tough to comprehend the names of streets and locations. There are several buses that take you through all the sites of the city. There are also service for night buses.

Taxis are a good way to get around town but can get pretty expensive. Taxi stands are numerous, and you can easily hail taxis from the street. There are several supplemental costs that get added to the main fare. Negotiate the price to your destination before you get in the taxi.
