Food
Chick peas, garbanzo
beans, asparagus, olive oil, garlic are common ingredients blended
with sauces and spices mixed with meat like lamb, beef or poultry
to create amazing mouthwatering dishes. Pork is a popular dish in
Madrid. Bacon, longanissa, and chorizo are also consumed in quite
heavy numbers. Breakfast in Spain is around 9:30am, lunch
is served between 2:00 and 3:00 pm followed by a long siesta, and
finally dinner in only after 9:00 pm.
Most
restaurants in Madrid have a set menú del día, which
is usually a good way to sample many different types of food, as
well as being a good bargain. It will generally include an appetizer,
bread, a main dish, dessert, and coffee or tea, and is generally
only served at lunchtime. Some restaurants accompany dinner with
favorites from traditional Spanish zarzuelas and operas.
