Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso: Program Overview

The Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso is considered one of the best universities in Chile. In 2003 the university celebrated its 75th anniversary. The Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso currently offers a wide range of classes and degrees to the over 12,000 students currently enrolled. Over the years the university has also offered international students the opportunity to come to Chile to study Spanish and take classes with other Chilean students. Last year the Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso accepted more than 400 international students from all over the world. These students participated in semester programs, year long programs and the specialized one month programs.

One week prior to the start of each semester, the university has an orientation week which is designed to help international students integrate into the program, find out more about Valparaiso and Vina del Mar, and of course, Chile. During this orientation week students are tested to determine their Spanish language skills and based on that are advised as to the type of classes they may enroll in.
