You have the option of
taking two summer sessions classes consisting of four weeks
each session. This is a great preparatory course for those
students enrolling in the second semester program. Students
at the beginner or intermediate level of Spanish would be
enrolled in an intensive Spanish Culture & Conversation
Course (45 hours) and a Spanish Grammar Course (45 hours).
Those students at the advanced level would be enrolled in
the Spanish Grammar Course (45 hours) and have the option
to choose one of the following electives: Conversation and
Culture (45 hours), Contemporary Chilean Literature (45 hours),
or Social Political Issues in Modern Chile.
Classes are held Monday
through Friday. The classes are held in workshop formats from
10:00AM- 1:15PM for the Spanish language courses. The elective
courses are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00PM.
The summer courses require 90% attendance to the classes.
The summer programs will allow for 90 hours of classroom contact.
All courses are taught in Spanish.
An orientation session
is held on the first day to welcome students to the university
and administer the placement test. Students will also have
the opportunity to participate in weekly walking/hiking tours
of Valparaiso.
These courses are for beginner, intermediate and advanced
students only.

9 quarter units or 6 semester hours per week session

Open to beginner to advanced levels of Spanish.
Notes: These classes can
be taken prior to participating in a Semester program, taken
after participating in a Semester program, or taken individually
according to your schedule.
