Program Overview: A2Z SAN JOSE

A2Z San Jose strives to be the best Spanish language school in Latin America by offering high-quality, personalized instruction at reasonable prices. In spite of being a relatively new language institute, The Spanish school has quickly developed an excellent reputation for providing personalized attention in a friendly atmosphere and with a highly professional staff. Since its inception, the Spanish school in Costa Rica has taught Spanish to thousands of participants. Those attending the Spanish courses have come from a wide range of age groups and professional backgrounds; and from every state in the continental United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and other countries.

Today the Spanish language school is located in Santo Domingo de Heredia, a quiet, residential suburb about 20 minutes from downtown San Jose. The facilities are perfectly designed for small group and private instruction. Outside of their Spanish courses, students can get a snack, talk to the staff about travel plans or access the internet. In addition to the location in Heredia , the Spanish school also offers a combination beach program in Tamarindo.

In a short radius from the school the school has all of its local host families. Within just a few block from the school you will find a few student apartments (space is limited).

Why San Jose?

  • Santo Domingo de Heredia is within close distance to all of the San Jose atttractions and big city, yet has the atmosphere of a small town.
  • The city has a vibrant and exciting nightlife.
  • The city is not the major final destination for most tourists visiting Costa Rica. This means that you will come into contact with few tourists and therefore have more opportunity to practice your Spanish and learn about the local culture.
  • San Jose/Heredia has an extensive range of restaurants, nightclubs, and boca bars.
  • The city is home to many colorful local markets where you can purchase just about anything.
  • Almost any location within Costa Rica is only 4 hours away by public transportation.
  • Just outside the city are many locations/destinations sure to be of interest to even the most avid outdoor enthusiast.

Program Options

Group 4 Program: Spanish Students meet for four lessons from Monday through Friday to learn Spanish in mini groups of never more than five students. These classes take place, according to the student's preference, in the morning from 8 am to 12 pm or in the afternoon from 1pm to 5 pm. Most of the students prefer morning classes. Nevertheless. during the rainy season (May to November) it is usually sunny in the morning and rainy in the afternoon. Thus it is more advisable to take afternoon classes. Groups may be divided whenever a student demonstrates a different pace of learning.

Private 4 Program: One-on-one instruction is designed especially for people who want to progress at their own pace, work on specific vocabulary, have special needs or who have limited time available. These classes take place according to the student's preference, in the morning from 8 am to 12 pm or in the afternoon from 1 pm to 5 pm.

City and Beach Program: This program is designed especially for people who want to study in both the city and on the beach. You will split your time between San Jose and Tamarindo with either 1 week in each location (2 Wks) or 2 weeks in each location (4 Wks).
