Approximately 75 miles east to Tizimín and 25 miles north.
Declared a wildlife refuge in 1979, the Rio Lagartos Reserve covers
over 100,000 acres of a wide variety of habitats that are home to
340 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, and 95 species of reptiles.
This includes howler monkeys, crocodiles, jaguars, pheasants, whitetail
deer, and over 18,000 flamingoes.
