Program Overview:
IH |
| |
IH
Freiburg was founded as LGS Sprachkurse in 1972 with the
focus on teaching English to German locals. In the early
1980's LGS Sprachkurse changed its name to IH Freiburg and
began to specialize in the teaching of German to foreign
students. Today the school is situated in a splendid neoclassical
three story building in the center of town, just two minutes
walk from the large pedestrian zone and the university.
The central location offers students easy access to museums,
restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. The building currently
has 14 classrooms, a self study room, a computer lab, a
cafeteria, billiard room and a larger terrace where students
can relax and enjoy the view. In sum, this school offers
top quality instruction and has the facilities to appeal
to even the most demanding client.
Students
have the choice of a variety of quality general and specialized
German language courses. The variety of options available
allow students to "tailor" the German course to
fit their particular needs. The emphasis of the various course
is on conversation but IH Freiburg also pays attention to
grammar, reading, listening and writing. The programs are
structured but flexible, allowing the courses to be adapted
to the students' level and pace.
Besides offering excellent
German language programs, IH Freiburg also offers (and or
assists in arranging) a variety of interesting cultural activities
and weekend excursions allowing student the chance to really
get to know Germany.
As with many of our other
schools, IH Freiburg not only provides general German language
study, but can also provide specialized programs for businesspeople,
lawyers, teachers, etc. Specialized courses are offered under
a private instruction format. |

divided into two blocks taught by two different trainers.
In the first two lessons, the focus is on accuracy, on learning
and practicing new grammatical structures in a communicative
context. In the following three lessons, the emphasis is on
developing your speaking and listening skills. Using discussion,
role playing, presentation etc, participants work on improving
their fluency.
In a small group
of between 4 and a maximum of 7 participants you will make
rapid progress in a short time. The aim of the course is to
improve your communication skills. You will learn to express
yourself appropriately in everyday work-related situations
and to increase your confidence in using German. IH Freiburg
will also develop your listening, reading and writing skills.
Intensive
PLUS Business: Group classes for 5 lesson per day (max
7 students) plus 1-3 lessons per day of individual instruction
structured towards business needs.
-
This course combines group and individual
tuition, enabling you to profit from the communicative
advantages of a group course in the morning and of completely
personalized, one-to one instruction in the afternoon.
The ideal combination of general and job-specific language
training.

-
With One-to-One tuition, IH Freiburg
can concentrate on your individual work-related learning
requirements. On the first day, your trainer will carry
out a detailed needs analysis with you and together you
will map out the aims of your course.
-
If possible, you should bring written
material relating to your company or your field of work
with you. Even better, send it to us before the start
of the course. This allows your trainer to tailor the
course to your needs.
-
Our participants come from a wide
variety of fields, (banking and finance, industry, law
etc.) and our trainers develop training materials specifically
for their requirements.
Extra Options
Individual
Language Instruction: 4-6 lessons per day of individual
instruction.
-
For participants
who do not have much time at their disposal and therefore
need to achieve good results in a short time, we recommend
Individual Language Instruction. In this case we adapt
totally to your learning needs, your learning pace and
your learning style.
-
With Individual Language Instruction,
IH Freiburg can concentrate on your individual work-related
learning requirements. On the first day, your trainer
will carry out a detailed needs analysis with you and
together you will map out the aims of your course.
-
You decide the length and intensity
of the course. If you are unsure, we are only too pleased
to advise you.
-
You will be taught by a team of two
or three trainers who tailor the course to meet your individual
requirements. The more information (e.g. product descriptions,
brochures, reports) we receive from you about your field
of work before the start of the course, the more effectively
we can plan your course.
You will receive an audiocassette
from us on which your trainers will record example sentences,
important vocabulary, grammatical structures or summaries
of your discussions. You can take this cassette home every
day and listen to it. At the end of the course the cassette
is yours. |
