The Town Of Zhouzhuang Located not far from Shanghai is Zhouzhuang. This historic town is probably the most famous of the water towns in China. Much of the town is criss-crossed with waterways and canals. To get anywhere in the town a boat is necessary. These waterway have helped the town avoid much of the devastation caused by past wars. This means that a visitor to Zhouzhuang can still see much of the architecture and town layout that was put in place by the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Throughout the town you will find stone arch bridges, ancient houses, majestic trees, all coming together to create a very unique atmosphere. Besides the physical structure of the town, one can experience local Chinese culture, watch events and festivals, and much more. If you come to Shanghai to study and learn Chinese
