Museums In Vienna

KunstHaus Wien

The KunstHaus Wien is a cultural landmark in Vienna. In the KunstHaus Wien a permanent Hundertwasser exhibition is offered.

His philosophy and his works in the fields of painting, graphic, ecology and architecture are presented. Furthermore you can find regular exhibitions of avant-garde and classic modern artists.

Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts was designed by Karl von Hasenauer and Gottfried Semper and was completed in 1890. It is one of the richest and most important art collections in the world. The Museum of Fine Arts houses paintings by Raphael, Rubens, Dürer,Rembrandt, Velazquez, Titian and Vermeer. It also houses Bruegel's most comprehensive paintings.

Museum of Applied Arts

The Museum of Applied Arts is known as a cultural institution and is located in the first district on the Ring Boulevard. Some of the highlights of the museum are a collection of works from the Wiener Werkstätte, Gustav Klimt's 20th century architectural models, Stoclet frieze and Michael Thonet's bentwood furniture

Museumsquartier

The Museumsquartier is one of the ten largest cultural complexes in the world. The complex includes baroque buildings, cultural institutions and museums where various disciplines of art are displayed. It houses the TanzQuartier, a state-of-the-art center for dance, a production studio called Architektur Zentrum Wien, studios for artists in residence and a number of cultural facilities for children. The Leopold Museum and the Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna are large art museums also housed within the complex. A variety of other events and festivals are held here ever year including the renowned Vienna film festival and the ImPulsTanz Festival.

Sigmund Freud Museum

The former office and private apartment of Sigmund Freud a medical doctor and founder of psychoanalysis is now a museum. The museum owns the original furniture from his waiting room, nearly eighty pieces of Freud's collection of antiques and some of his personal belongings. There is also a library that holds a collection of literature about psychoanalysis in several languages.
