offering Greek language programs for many decades. The Greek
language school was founded by a consortium of top scholars
and artists who wanted to provide an array of Greek language
immersion programs to students from around the world. Most
students who come to Athens, Greece to study and learn Greek
will participate in the modern Greek language program offered
by the Greek language school. Additionally, through a relationship
with select universities, the Greek language school also
arranges semester long Greek language programs.
The Greek language school is ideally situated in the heart
of Athens (Greece). From the Greek language school most
of the important sites of interest in Athens are just minutes
away. The Greek school is housed in a beautiful building
that we feel provides the perfect setting for people who
want to study and learn Greek. Its main facility is a neo-classical
building, listed by the Greek Ministry of Culture as a protected
work of art, and is surrounded by a courtyard of greenery,
statues, clay pots and ancient pieces of marble. The classrooms
are comfortable and well lighted, there is a comfortable
courtyard to relax during breaks, and the Greek language
school has a large area for cultural presentations and /
or events.

AZ Athens Greek language school offers
two types of Greek language programs, the Greek Immersion
Program and the Accelerated Greek Program. The Greek Immersion
Program takes place in the summer months and the Accelerated
Greek Program takes place the rest of the year. It is important
to note that most Greek language classes are held in the afternoons,
with the exception of a few noted in the table below with
the Start Dates. We feel these program are an effective way
to study and learn Greek.
Greek Immersion
Program: This Greek language program runs in segments
of 3 weeks. Greek language courses are taught 5 days a week
and consist of 4 Greek language lessons per day. Each Greek
class has a maximum of 8-12 students per class. Each level
consists of 60 lessons of classroom instruction. Greek courses
vary in intensity and duration, but all courses with the same
level number cover the same materials. This Greek program
is open to individuals of all levels of Greek proficiency.
Accelerated
Greek Program: This Greek language program runs in
segments of 4 weeks. The Greek language program runs 5 days
a week and consist of 3 Greek language lessons per day. Each
Greek language class has a maximum of 8-12 students per class.
This Greek program covers the same class material as the 3
week Greek Immersion course ,
the only difference being the number of lessons per day of
classes and the length of the course.
Island of
Spetses Summer Greek Program: The summer Greek language
program on the Island of Spetses consists of a three week
session with five courses per day in modern Greek, from beginning
through advanced levels. Participants will receive a total
of 60 hours of Greek language instruction. In addition to
Greek language instruction, the program includes several evenings
of Greek dance, barbecue dinners with Greek food, wine and
music, video evenings, and other activities in which all students
can participate.

Program: What's Available? |

- On a limited basis the Greek language
school in Athens is able to offer very basic apartment
accommodations. These are small self-contained basically
furnished apartments with kitchenettes available for short
lets; five minutes walk from the Greek language school
in Athens. Fans, no air-conditioning. No phones. Laundry
facilities close by. Book early, limited availability.
- The Greek language school has a pay phone
in the premises which the students can use.
- To send faxes students have to make use
of facilities at nearby shops.
- Cultural activities.
- Academic credit available (depending
on instructor).

meet on all days indicated within the scheduled dates, except
on the public holidays. Classes are not rescheduled to make
up for public holidays.
