The
Spanish summer camp in Costa Rica Rica is offered in San Jose to
students that are 14 -17 years old. The Spanish camp is
located just outside the main city in the suburb of Santo
Domingo de Heredia. This quaint town is about 20 minutes
from the center of San Jose and offers a secure location
for high school students. The location of the Spanish camp
provides a full immersion experience and is centrally location
so that the teens are in close proximity to all the activities
and excursions that they will be particiipating in during
the Spanish program.
The summer camp integrates Spanish courses for high school
students with fun activities so that the teens have the
oppertunity to discover the natural settings and vibrant
culture that makes up Costa Rica. Host family accommodations
are provided to promote a Spanish learning environment outside
the classroom as well as a full meal plan provided by the
family.
The high school Spanish students will have four Group Spanish
lessons each day that are modeled after and just as intensive
as the adult Spanish courses held at the same school. There
will be no more than 5 students per class room. The high
school students will have lunch with their host families
in-between daily activities and Spanish classes.
All teens are assigned to host families that are within
30 minutes walking distance from the camp. All students
will have another Spanish student living in the same home.
High school students will be able to walk freely to and
from the Spanish school for courses and activities.Weekend
excursions are provided so that students get a chance to
view major sites outside the city area and see the natural
beauty of Costa Rica.
Summer Camp Activities and Excursions
The Spanish summer camp in San Jose offers
daily activities to sites of interest within close distance
from the Spanish school. Starting on the first day the high
school students will receive a tour of the town that they
will inhabit throughout the course of the camp. Activities
will vary from week to week but could include, trips to
local a local volcano, coffee factory, butterfly farm, horseback
riding, aerial tram through the forest canopy, volunteering,
movie night, river rafting, zip-line canopy tour, and many
more.
Excursions on the weekend are over night
trips that include guided tours as well as transportation
to the location of interest for all teens at the camp. These
excursions include trips to the following National Parks
and surrounding environs: Tortugero National Park, Arenal
Volcano, and Manuel Antonio Beach and National Park. One
excursion is included on the weekend in-between each two
week period. Excursions are subject to change based on weather
and unforeseen circumstances.

Summer Camp Accommodations in Costa Rica
The Summer camp in San Jose provides accommodations
for all of the high school students that attend the summer
Spanish program. Specific selected host families provide
students a private room, 3 meals per day, Spanish practice
outside the class room, and laundry service.
Out of all locations in Latin America and Spain, Costa Rica
is know to have some of the most friendly and welcoming
host families. All teens will be placed with a fellow Spanish
student, unless they request to be the only student in the
hime. Accommodations are included from Sunday night till
their Saturday departure. Families are all within walking
distance to the Spanish school.
Start Dates for the Spanish Summer Camp
The Spanish summer camp in Costa Rica is
open from June 16th - July 26th. The official
start dates for the Spanish courses are June 16th,
June 30th, and July 14th.
Arrival into San Jose, Costa Rica
All high school students will receive a
free airport pickup and transfer to their host family. The
student's flight information must be provided in advance
to arrange these pickup services.
Costa Rica Summer Camp Supervision
The Spanish camp has moderate supervsion
over all high school students enrolled in the summer Spanish
program. Students will be supervised while at the school,
host family, and during activities and excursions. Students
will not be supervised while walking to and from school
or during indetermine down times. It is best if the students
use the buddy system and always travel in pairs or groups.
Santo Domingo de Heredia is relatively
safe and all host families are within walking distance to
the camp. Students must be aware of their belongings and
surroundings as a vigilant eye is paramount to safety of
their belongings and self. Spanish students enrolled in
the Spanish summer camp must be of the highest maturity
level for their age and be able to follow the assigned school
rules.
