Schmökwitz: Program Overview

Schmökwitz Summer Camp (ages 8-15)

GLS German language school has a Summer Camp in Schmökwitz. This camp is located on Lake Zeuthen, southeast of Berlin. learn German with kids from up to 30 nations on the beautiful campus of Teikyo University, an ideal place for play, sport and fun.

German Language Immersion

Every day you have 3 lessons of German, and native speakers teach you. Best of all, there are German kids staying with you at the camp. Germans your age aren’t just spending their German holidays at the same camp, they will also be taking part in all the same activities with you. This way you will definitely be able to find one who shares your interest. German will be your common language.

GLS Facilities

You live in 2 or 3 bedrooms with own shower and restroom on the campus of Teikyo University. Unless otherwise requested, you’ll be accommodated with a student of another nationality. At the camp you’ll find a fitness center with various sports facilities. If you want, you can book sailing or tennis lessons at an extra charge.

Location: campus of private Teikyo University on Lake Zeuthen, next to the village Schmöckwitz, belonging to the Berlin district of Köpenick.

Facilities: fireplace lounge, fitness center, volleyball court, various sport facilities.

Activities and Excursions

Every day, you’ll have a choice of three activities in international groups, from photography workshops to camp newspaper or disco parties for the whole camp - a perfect chance to use your German with the German kids! In addition to that we take you on 2 excursions every week, to the Berlin district of Koepenick for example or to the city center, with Potsdamer Platz, Reichstag and Brandenburger Tor.

German course

15 lessons (45 minutes) a week with a max of 12 students per class on 4 levels: beginners, elementary, intermediate, advanced. International classes with students from Mexico, Poland, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Denmark, Russia, Norway, England, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, the US any many other countries.

Accommodation

Accommodations include either 2 or 3 bedrooms with their own shower and restroom on the Teikyo University campus with full board (three meals) at the campus restaurant.

Activities & Sports

3 activities daily in international groups: sports, games, dance, theater, music. 1 full-day and 1 half-day excursion to Berlin per week. Multi-sport program with tennis or sailing at surcharge.

Dates & Prices

In 2005 the summer camp is open from June 19th till August 21th. Please note: Arrivals & departures are on Sundays.

Prices include:

• Transfer from/to airport on arrival and departure
• 15 weekly German lessons, placement test, teaching materials, certificates
• Residence accommodation in 2 or 3 bedded rooms, full board
• 3 activities per day, 1 half day and 1 full day excursion / week
• All transport costs and entry fees pertaining to GLS activities
• 24 hour supervision by tutors and teachers living with you in the camp

Not included:

• The multi-sport program (weekly surcharge of €80 Euro)
• Extra night: €45 Euro
• Extra transfers for arrival and departure not on a Sunday: €50 Euro
• Tickets for musicals or theatre events in Berlin (about €25 Euro).
