ESL: Leysin
LEYSIN (Ages 13 to
18)
With a fantastic view of
the Alps from the classes, the ESL French language school
is ideally located at a few minutes walk from the village.
The school has an deal
location in the center of Leysin which offers students access
to a wide variety of places and facilities that will make
their stay unforgettable. Located only 100 metres away, the
shops, the swimming pool, the climbing wall, the tennis and
squash courts, the fitness centre, the chairlifts and many
other amenities offer our students a wide range of exciting
activities. Students are accommodated in comfortable rooms
with 2 or 3 beds and their own private bathroom. The comfortable
classrooms, the recreation room, the cinema, the private disco,
the bright, sunny rooms and the huge dining hall all combine
to offer an idyllic environment in which to learn a language.
The modern architecture of the course center offers students
an unrestricted view over the Alps as well as a perfect background
for language courses and for relaxation.
The town of Leysin offers
an enormous array of outdoor activities to keep the students
busy having fun while practicing their French. This world
famous-resort has successfully managed to combine its mountain
roots, which extend back to the Middle Ages, with the ever
growing diversity of modern tourist demands: here alpine traditions
and a contemporary lifestyle form a dynamic mix.
The main goal at ESL is
to awake students' interest in learning a language. In fact,
ESL feels that the more comfortable their students are, the
better they will learn. They achieve this, first of all, by
creating a young and dynamic atmosphere in their lessons with
topics that really motivate the students. Moreover parallel
activities complement the study work wonderfully by familiarizing
students with spontaneous use of what they learned in the
classroom. The ESL program is adopted to all levels and allows
you to improve your grammatical skills and develop your communication
skills alongside your understanding of written and spoken
French. The principal strategy involves four important stages:
discovery, improvement, revision and progression. The teaching
staff regularly participate in training sessions organized
in conjunction with the International House in Nice. Therefore
the instructors keep up to date with all the advances in teaching
methodologies, and thereby can offer you the very best in
terms of language instruction.
SUPERVISION
For the younger students,
ESL organizes closer supervision in collaboration with the
hostfamily. Moreover, the emergency telephone number is available
24 hours a day and 7 days a week. |

Standard
Program: The purpose of this half-day course (mornings) is
to cover all the main skills and language areas, providing communication
skills for daily life situations. This program is suitable for students
eager to explore and pursue other interests in the afternoon. Students
also have the option to attend 2 conversational courses each week.
This is ideal for improving oral expression and comprehension but
also pronunciation and self-confidence through exercises with a
strong emphasis on real-life situations and role playing, theatre,
discussion, and interviews.
- Full board accomodation ( from Monday to Saturday,
3 meals a day and brunch and dinner on Sundays), learning material,
basic program ( sport and activities), a one day excursion and
one half-day excursion per week, ESL school's end party, ESL T-shirt,
and supervision.
- In addition to the French immersion programs,
students who wish to skate or rollerblade can take advante of
the town's skate park.

20 group lessons per week, beginners to
advanced. The purpose of this half-day course (mornings)
