The
American Church (Ph. No. 01 47 05 07 99; metro Pont
de l' Alma) at 65 Quai d'Orsay (7e) functions as a community centre
for English speakers and is an excellent source of information on
flats, jobs etc. Reception is staffed daily from 9 am to 1 pm and
2 to 10.30 pm (7.30 pm on Sunday). The church has three bulletin
boards: an informal board downstairs on which people post all sorts
of announcements (for no charge), and two identical official bulletin
boards - one near reception, the other outside - listing flats,
things for sale and jobs, especially work for au pairs, babysitters
and English language teachers. The American Church sponsors a variety
of classes, workshops, concerts (on Sunday at 6 pm from September
to May) and other cultural activities.

to embassies or consulates, provide information to people who would
like to study in France.
