MADRID JUNIOR PROGRAM COLEGIO MARQUES
5-18 years in July/August

 

For students of 14 years of age and older, the program is offered on the campus of a prestigious private school located on the outskirts of Madrid. Students 5 years of age and older are able to attend in the month of August. Located in the area of one of Europe´s largest universities, the school is only 15 minutes by Metro from the Plaza de España, a major scenic point in old Madrid.

Discussing in classroomAs this program is designed for older students part of the summer, one of the major features is a 24-hour reception-area attendant, a cafeteria, an auditorium, an Internet facility, photo lab, video/TV room, dining room and an infirmary. The outdoor area features a well-kept garden area that opens onto a soccer field, a semi-olympic pool, a gymnasium, a basketball court, a handball court and a tennis court.

ClassroomStudents will receive a total of 20 Spanish lessons per week divided into four lessons per day from Monday to Friday. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Might there be a trip/special activity planned during a weekday, classes for that day will be given on the weekend. At the end of the program, and upon its successful completion, students will be given a certificate and a progress report.

Accommodation

All students will be placed with other nationalities when possible and within their own age group so that the common language is Spanish. Moreover, they will be divided according to their gender. Linen will be provided at the camp but not bath towels.The dormitory rooms are distributed over 4 floors of the main building. All rooms are doubles or singles and are furnished with a bed, study desk, wardrobe and a shower and a washstand. Homestay program is available for students 14 and over.

Arriving in Madrid

The school offers airport pickup from the airport in Madrid. The cost of this service is about US$150 for round-trip transportation. A supplement of US$25 each way will apply if the student needs transportation between 24:00-07:00.

Supervision

AccommodationThe counselors, Camp Coordinators and the Camp Directors who supervise students are Spaniards experienced in their fields who the school selects and motivates to return year after year. They are selected for their dedication and attention to our students. The younger students (5-14) receive maximum amount of supervision and will be with camp personnel at all times. Students born after 1988 will be able to leave the campus 3 times during a 2 weeks session. Students must inform and officially request to leave the grounds and be approved by their counselor.
