St Petersburg has a wide range of traditional cultural offerings that allows you to spend days together at museums, casinos, galleries, theaters, palaces and evenings at ballets, operas and concerts at night.

Cinemas, Clubs and Casinos

There are a number of excellent cinemas showing domestic and foreign classics and hosting regular festivals devoted to great Russian directors. Russia also boasts of a huge number of casinos and night clubs. Some charge a hefty entrance fee and nearly all demand a dress code. You can also find some tasteful fashion shows, restaurants and western DJs in addition to the dancing and gaming. Howeever be warned that the safety and quality of these places can vary drastically, largely depending on whether or not it has been adopted by one of the local mafia groups. Taxis are a lot cheaper if you walk a few blocks away from the club entrance.

Music

You can find a world-class orchestras or ballet troupes performing on practically any day of the season, and many venues host folk dance and music from all corners of Russia. Russia also has a vibrant rock and jazz scene, and offer the full range, from underground hard rock dens and smoke-filled jazz clubs to full-scale concerts. Ever more foreign stars are including Russia on their European tours; the English language press is where you can get all pertaining information.

Sports

For the sports fanatic, there are lots of opportunities to participate in adventure sports or spectator sports which include Ice Fishing, Tennis, Horseback Riding, Rowing and Sailing, Swimming, Golf, Hockey, Soccer etc
