Though
Russia is smaller than it was during Soviet times, the country
is still the largest country in the world. The country has
11 different time zones! Russia is home to vast mountain ranges,
extensive plains, and a large region residing in the Arctic
Circle. The Asian section of Russia is dividing from the European
section of the country by the massive Ural Mountains. The
country is rich in natural resources and is a world leader
in products ranging from crude oil to rare metals.
While many assume the Russia is a frigid
wasteland, the truth is much different. The majority of the
country lies in a temperate climate belt.
From a populations standpoint Russia is fascinating.
Well over 120 ethnic and religious groups make up the country.
You can find Russians, Ukrainians, Chechens, Muslims, Christians,
Jews, Tartars and many other groups as you travel this wide
and varied country. The mix of cultures and religions makes
for a wonderful cultural experience.
Russia offers the visitor a dazzling array
of territory to explore. The country consists of over 11 different
time zones and an impressive variety of terrain, flora and
fauna. One can visit the tundra of the far north, hike volcanic
peaks in the far east, explore vast expanses of forest, boat
on Lake Baikal, or any one of a thousand different tours.
