Russian currency is called the Ruble, and as you travel around
you should note that almost all prices in Russia are listed
in Rubles. Exchanging currency can be done at banks, hotels,
our tourist kiosks. You will find that it definately pays
off to shop around for the best rate! Note: While tipping
is not the norm, at certain places it is becoming the standard.
When you come across a situation where you should tip, tip
between 5-10%
How much will you spend in Russiat? This depends of course
on your personal tastes however the following will give
you a general idea.
A budget meal will range from $4-10. A hotel can be as
cheap as $10 (not recommended) to a few hundred dollars
a night. Typically you can find a hotel to fit your budget.
Whatever you do, shop around. Russia can be visited fairly
inexpensively.
Final note: Credit cards and US Currency (or Euros) are
the best. It can be difficult to exchange travelers checks.
Remember getting cash in big cities is easy. In a small
town or village it may be impossible.
