Program Overview:
CEPE |
| |
Centro de Estudios Para
Extranjeros (CEPE) of the University of Guadalajara prides
themselves on their capacity to train students who are willing
to close the gap between cultures and able to benefit from
the diversity and openness that this offers. At both the Guadalajara
and the Puerto Vallarta locations, CEPE provides students
with a rigorous and challenging program, taught by a committed
and respected University faculty, affording them unique opportunities
to expand their classroom experience and enhance their academic
pursuits.
CEPE itself is the language
school for foreigners set up by the prestigious Universidad
de Guadalajara, which is recognized by numerous major universities
around the world. The language school in Guadalajara was established
in 1948. Though part of the university, CEPE is located in
a separate building away from the rest of the university in
a beautiful residential area of Guadalajara. The facilities
are some of the nicest you will find anywhere in Latin America.
From the steps of the school, one is only blocks away from
virtually everything of interest in Guadalajara.
By choosing to study at
CEPE students become part of a tradition of academic excellence,
accompanied by the warmth and hospitality that characterizes
Mexican culture. CEPE enjoys the reputation of being among
the finest accredited University Programs of Spanish language
and Latin American Culture in the world. A walk through CEPE
reveals a rich diversity of students and faculty members.
In the classrooms, laboratories and libraries, people from
many different countries, of different races and beliefs come
together to pursue a common objective: to learn Spanish and
Latin American culture.
As with many of our other
schools, CEPE not only provides general Spanish language study,
but can also provide specialized language instruction. |

Standard
Program: Group instruction, 4 lessons per day, 15 students
max per class. This is a 5 week class.
Learning is based on the
Communicative Approach, without losing sight of the need for
grammatical accuracy. Spanish language courses are taught
in Spanish and are designed to help students acquire fluency
and sufficient communicative skills to cope with any situation
that they are likely to encounter. The size of the groups
are no larger than 10 students. This enables CEPE to offer
a level of personalized attention, according to the specific
needs of each student, and to encourage more interaction in
the classroom. On arrival, students are tested for both written
and spoken competence. On the basis of this placement test,
they are assigned to the most appropriate level for their
own benefit. The CEPE operates ten levels of Spanish instruction,
which are in turn divided into three areas: Spanish for Beginners,
Intermediate Spanish, Advanced Spanish.
Individual
Language Training: Perfect for those who need intensive
or specialized instruction. The same techniques used in the
Standard Program are applied to the Individual Language Training
Program. For students with an intermediate to high level of
proficiency CEPE can tailor a program to cover specific needs
and/or specialized topics. |
