The Chalcatzingo is an archeological site
about 50 miles from Cuernavaca in the State of Morelos. It
features rock carvings and sculptures that depict mythical
and religious themes. Some of the remnants are from various
cultures dating back to 3000 B.C
Tlayacapan
Is the original home of
the Chinelos. It features the convent of St John the baptist
and several other smaller chapels. The local museum exhibits
artifacts, paintaings nd mummified bodies. The town is known
for its colorful clay pottery.
Tepoztlán
Tepoztlan is a small town in the State of
Morelos. It is surrounded by hills and overlooks the Tepozteco
pyramids. The lively chinelo dance is an attraction performed
during carnivals where the Chinelos dress in colorful attire
and masks and dance to the loud drums.
Pirámide
de Teopanzolco: This small archaelogical site is on
Río Balsas with two pyramids, one inside the other.
There are several other temples and ruins in the vicinity.
Zempoala
is a series of lagoons in the mountains above the city.
Salto de San
Antón Is a lovely waterfall surrounded by lush
vegetation. There are a few picnic tables and hiking trails
that lead from it.

Taxco
Taxco, located 45 minutes
from Cuernavaca,is one of the oldest mining sites located
in the Americas. It is a charming little town with a colonial
ambiance, red-tiled roofs, cobble stoned, narrow winding streets
and the towering, impressive 240 year old Santa Prisca Cathedral.
The silver jewelery found here has been a major attraction
for tourists and conquistadors.
Chapultepec
Is a lovely park with a playground, a park, a zoo, miniature
train rides and restaurants. It is extremely popular with
families on weekends.
Lake Tequesquitengo
This lake offers a variety of water sports and activities,
located only 48 kms. from Cuernavaca. |
