Recreation Centers and Natural Attractions

Cuernavaca is a beautiful resort where people come to enjoy the clean air, relax and enjoy the incomparable climate. The city is filled with parks, gardens and colonial architecture. Innumerable sporting activities like water-skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting and mountain climbing are available. It is very common to find water parks with natural springs. Some like the 'Agua Hedionda', are famous for their healing, sulfurous waters.

The city has some fantastic colonial architecture. The Catedral de la Asuncion de Maria, built in 1552 is one of the oldest churches in Mexico. The gardens and architecture of Museo de Cuauhnahuac or Palacio de Cortez' is an attration. Museo Casa Robert Brady originally a private house turned into a magnificent art gallery is an attraction for art lovers. The city Zocalo has some magnificent colonial architecture including the Plaza de Armas and Palacio de Gobierno. Art lover's may also enjoy a tour to the workshop (taller) at the Taller de Alfaro Siquieros, a very famous Mexican Muralist, which is also found here in Cuernavaca's colonial centre.

Taxco, located 45 minutes from Cuernavaca,is one of the oldest mining sites located in the Americas. It is a charming little town with a colonial ambiance, red-tiled roofs, cobble stoned, narrow winding streets and the towering, impressive 240 year old Santa Prisca Cathedral. The silver jewelery found here has been a major attraction for tourists and conquistadors.
