Athens: Cultural Events

One of the most important cultural evens is the Athens Festival. This event takes place during the summer months and incorporates operas, dancing, and classical music. The majority of these fascinating performances are held nearby the Acropolis at the Roman Structure: Odeon of Herodus Atticus.

There are however a variety of other locations during the summer that host some interesting events. Many events offer concerts or theatrical events. Currently Athens is home to a couple dozen theater companies offering a wide range of styles.

During the winter months it is possible to catch a variety of interesting musical performances at the Megaro Mousikis (Concert Hall) or at the Greek National Operas Olympia Hall.

Throughout the year in Athens the National Gallery and other venues play host to a variety of world class art exhibitions.

The above are just a very small sampling of some of the many different cultural events taking place in Athens and the rest of Greece every year.
