Transportation
Munich has an excellent public transportation system.
The main system consists of a network of subway, bus and tram lines.
Using this system it is possible to inexpensively get to most places
of interest in Munich. Ticket prices vary depending on the zone
you are traveling to. Maps at the various stations and stops provide
a list of pricing in relation to particular zones.
Arriving by Air
Munich has an international airport called Munich International
(MUC). A wide selection of domestic and international airlines service
Munich.
Getting Around
Much of what Munich has to offer can be seen on
foot. When you are in a hurry or have to get somewhere quickly,
take advantage of the subway, busses or trams. Taxis are also very
abundant as well.
For those staying for a period of time, a travel
pass makes sense. The pass offers a discount over the paying as
you go method. Good for the subway, busses and trams. Tickets can
be purchased at both S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations. Additionally at
the Hauptbanhof tickets can also be purchased.
Tickets
Other types of tickets can be purchased from ticket
machines. These machines can be found at U-Bahn stations and select
tram and bus stops. Pay attention to the type of tickets offers.
Traveling to multiple zones requires a certain type of tickets.
