Oktoberfest

This is the largest beer festival in the world. Typically 7 million people participate in this fun event. Oktoberfest runs from the end of September through the beginning of October.

Grand Entry
The Wiesn-Parade kicks off the beginning of the Oktoberfest. The parade has a tradition dating back to 1887.

Münchner Kindl
An interesting parade that always includes the Mayor of Munich and Governor of Bavaria. A young woman leads the parade on horseback and the mayor and governor are right behind in a decorated horse drawn carriage. Following immediately behind are more carriages, decorated wagons, beer carts, and a variety of people wearing colorful clothing.

Oktoberfest Folklore International
This began in 1835 on the silver anniversary of the marriage of King Ludwig I and Theresa. The parade has people wearing national costumes from the various regions. The event has been held annually since the 1950's and is one of the more popular Oktoberfest events.
