How do we teach? There is no single way to learn a language. Taking the communicative approach as their starting point, the trainers at IH select the techniques and materials best suited to you and your needs.

We strongly believe that having fun while learning is one of the major causes of good results.The emphasis of teaching is on improving your communication skills, on increasing your confidence and developing your competence when using German, whether it is at your place of work or in everyday situations.

Both basic grammar and the necessary language functions are taught and practiced. Much of the time the group will be split into pairs and groups, ensuring a maximum amount of student talking time.

The principle of moving gradually from controlled practice to freer speaking activities enables course participants to use the functions, structures and vocabulary they have learned in "real life".

Each day is split into three parts (Juniors: two parts): two lessons each of grammar and conversation and one lesson listening comprehension exercises. These are taught by two different teachers.
