In a place called Clemenceau,
in the heart of Biarritz, you can find all the major fashion boutiques,
with all the big designer names from Paris. Other boutiques include
rue Gambetta, rue Mazagran, avenue Victor-Hugo, avenue Edouard-VII,
avenue du Maréchal-Foch, and avenue de Verdun. Mille et Un
Fromages is a great place for cheese and wine specializing in a
number of tasty French cheeses with specific wines to accompany
them.
There’s a chocolate museum,
sponsored by Biarritz’s famous chocolatier, Henriet. There
are exhibits explaining the chocolate making process as well a its
history. Elaborately decorated wooden boxes fill the display cases.
From rich chocolate to sculptured cakes and tarts on display. There
is a small store where you can purchase a variety of chocolate,
truffles and candied fruit. Pariès is also among the finest
chocolatiers where you can choose from among seven kinds of tourons,
ranging from raspberry to coffee.
For souvenirs there are several stores selling
trinkets, key chains, jewelry, fine Basque tablecloths, sheets,
and other linens, hand made sandals and foot wear, antiques, porcelain
dolls etc. Wine also makes for a great gift with choices of potent
spirits distilled from pears, plums, or raspberries.
