Transportation information for getting to and from Vichy, France

Transportation

Bus

The departmental bus station is at the northern end of the train station parking lot. There are many local buses which run around town and to the suburbs. Schedules are centered around students and people going to work. There are also bus services to other cities in France.

Taxi

Taxis can be hailed from the street however it is advisable to catch them at taxi stations, train stations or airports. All taxis carry meters but prices may vary depending on number of people, time of the day, luggage etc. Make sure you determine the cost before entering the taxi. For smaller towns and rural areas you have to book a taxi by telephone.

Train

Vichy station lies along the Paris-Clermont-Ferrand rail line which is frequently travelled and well connected. Shuttle, bus and taxi services are available to get you to anywhere in the city.

The best way to get around Vichy is on foot, by car or by bike. Although cycling is popular there are not many trains and buses on which you can carry your bicycle. You can rent mountain bikes, mopeds and motorcycles.
