Your first day at CLE
Upon arrival at CLE you will receive
a file containing further information about the school and
your stay in Tours. One of our teachers will take you on
a guided visit of the school and will show you the literature,
multimedia and other study aids available to you as a student.
You will also receive a student card enabling you to benefit
from various reductions in numerous museums, cinemas and
bookshops, etc. You will be given a written and oral placement
test to evaluate your abilities. This will enable us to
place you in a class that corresponds to your level. We
also take the time to discuss together your motivation,
expectations and special interests.
Your schedule
Students attend classes for 20 hours
per week, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. until 12.15 p.m., as
well as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 1.45 p.m.
until 4.30 p.m. NB: this changes in July and August to take
advantage of the warm weather. Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. to
12.45 p.m. plus one afternoon: 2 p.m. to 4.45 p.m. Students
enjoy a coffee break together in the morning.
Your classes : highest standards of
tuition in a stimulating atmosphere
In a class of no more than 7 students
you will feel confident and at ease. Your oral participation
is encouraged by the relaxed and cordial ambiance. At elementary
and intermediate levels your progress is closely monitored
and tested. With the help of your teacher you will be able
to analyse your individual needs and progression throughout
the course of study.
One-to-one tuition
If you have very little time you may
require tailor-made lessons which meet precisely with your
requirements, for example: exam preparation, to improve
your comprehension and oral expression, specialised vocabulary
corresponding to your profession, etc. Individual lessons
can be taken as a complement to group classes, or if you
prefer you can opt for one-to-one tuition only. Together
we will establish a programme entirely adapted to your personal
needs, the minimum tuition being 15 hours of lessons per
week. To save time we will ask you to send us your study
objectives prior to your arrival.
Individual work
With 20 hours of classes per week, there
is enough time for personal study, to consolidate what you
have learnt in class. CLE puts at your disposal:
You are welcome to use
any of these materials or study aids throughout the week,
until 6.30 p.m. when the school closes.
Progress is facilitated
by the small number of students in each class but it also
depends on your willingness to learn. Our programme is flexible
enough to accommodate each participant's pace, but as well
as attendance in class one or two hours of independent study
per day are encouraged. We strongly recommend that students
stay with a host-family to ensure a complete and continuous
immersion in the French language and lifestyle.
