IH-Nice was founded in 1984,
and today has a reputation as one of the best language schools in
France. IH-Nice is committed to providing students with the very
best conditions to help them towards their objective: Learning the
French language and discovering French culture. Today the school
is situated in a nice building centrally located within Nice. From
the school, students are just minutes away from most points of interest
within the city. The building currently has 9 classrooms, a self
study room, a computer lab for internet access, and a terrace for
students to relax on. This school has consistently received great
reviews from participants over the year.
Students have the choice of a
variety of quality general and specialized French language courses.
The variety of options available allow students to "tailor"
the French course to fit their particular needs. The emphasis of
the various
course is on conversation but IH Nice also pays attention to grammar,
reading, listening and writing. The programs are structured but
flexible, allowing the courses to be adapted to the students' level
and pace.
Besides offering excellent French
language programs, IH Nice also offers (and or assists in arranging)
a variety of interesting cultural activities and weekend excursions
allowing student the chance to really get to know France.
As with many of our other schools,
IH Nice not only provides general French language study, but can
also provide specialized programs for businesspeople, lawyers, teachers,
etc. Specialized courses are offered under a private instruction
format.

Standard
Program: Group instruction, 4 lessons per day (20 lessons
per week). Small classes of a maximum of 10 students allowing individual
attention and the opportunity for students to actively participate
during the lessons. Open to individuals of all levels. The average
class size throughout the year is 7 individuals.
IH-Nice uses the communicative
approach to teaching French. The communicative approach pays attention
to the functional as well as structural aspects of the language.
IH-Nice has developed techniques and practices to teach all four
language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and
which acknowledge the mutual interdependence of language and communication.
This approach allows the teachers to borrow elements from other
teaching methods (such as role-playing, question and answer, visual
aids and drills) to adapt to your learning patterns and to develop
the skills you need. In this context teachers play an essential
role and the school requires that their teaching competence must
go hand in hand with their human qualities. All teachers are native
French speakers with higher education qualifications. Each teacher
has undergone additional training in “French as a Foreign
Language” and regularly take part in international training
courses on new teaching methods run by the International House Network.
Intensive
Program: Same as the Standard Program except for the fact
that this option includes an additional 6 lessons per week during
3 afternoons.
Extra Options
Individual
Language Instruction: 4-6 lessons per day of individual instruction.
-
For participants who do not
have much time at their disposal and therefore need to achieve
good results in a short time, we recommend Individual Language
Instruction. In this case we adapt totally to your learning
needs, your learning pace and your learning style.
-
With Individual Language Instruction,
IH Nice can concentrate on your individual work-related learning
requirements. On the first day, your trainer will carry out
a detailed needs analysis with you and together you will map
out the aims of your course.
-
You decide the length and
intensity of the course. If you are unsure, we are only too
pleased to advise you.
-
You will be taught by
a team of two or three trainers who tailor the course to meet
your individual requirements. The more information (e.g. product
descriptions, brochures, reports) we receive from you about
your field of work before the start of the course, the more
effectively we can plan your course.
