Amazon Jungle Program
Yarina lodge is situated in the
region of Coca in the Amazon jungle. You can either fly or take
the bus to Coca and then go by boat up the Napo river to Yarina
lodge. The lodge is new (opened in 1999) and consists of double
room cabins with private bathrooms.
The Simon Bolivar Spanish school
is sending groups to Yarina to study Spanish and to explore the
Amazon jungle. The program has become very successful so you should
book it well in advance.
At Yarina you can observe
up to 200 different species of birds, different kinds of monkeys,
caimans, etc.
Schedule:
Sundays:
leaving Quito at night to arrive in Coca Monday morning (bus)
Monday: lunch, Spanish lessons
and dinner
Tuesday: Breakfast. 3 hours walk
in the jungle to observe the great variety of flora and fauna
Wednesday: Walk in the jungle
to learn about medical plants. Spanish lessons
Thursday: Spanish lessons. Fishing
and canoing down the river to observe wildlife.
Friday: Spanish lessons. Visit
to a native family to learn about their daily life. Return to
Coca and Quito.
