National Parks near the
Spanish School in Tamarindo
SANTA ROSA COSTA RICA NATIONAL PARK
The Santa Rosa National Park is located over one
hour from the Spanish School in Tamarindo.
The Battle of Santo Rosa took place within the
park in 1858 and is today known as one of the most significant locations
of Costa Rica history.
The park now inhabits a variety of plants and wildlife.
There are select beaches within the park that are popular sites
for turtle nests of the Leatherback, Oliver Ridley, and Green Sea
Turtles. There are hundreds of mammal, reptile, amphibian and bird
species as well as countless insect types. Wild life lovers flock
to the park. The most popular animals are the howler monkeys and
collared peccaries. Bird lovers can't miss the many tropical species
including parakeets and trogans to name a few.
Palo Verde Costa Rica National Park
This park is also located in the Guanacaste Province
of Costa Rica. Palo Verde National Park is specifically known for
its lakes, mangrove swamps, and savannas. The variety of natural
habitats creates an abundance of differing animals species.
Since their is a lot of water in the area, many
people come to this park to view a wide range of water birds. The
park is home to the the most dense population of these types of
birds in all of Central America. Some birds stay in the park all
year while others fly in during the migratory cycles. The park is
also home to a mix of crocodiles, monkeys, and deer.
Rincon de la Vieja Costa Rica National Park
Rincon del Vieja is located in the rocky region
of Guanacaste that is known for its mountains. This park is located
around 2 hours from the Spanish school in Tamarindo.
The Rincon de la Vieja is actually a volcano that
remains active in parts to this day. The volcano had an eruption
right before the turn of the 21st Century.
Due to the hot zones of this active areas, you
will find many hot water baths. Other features include geysers and
hot mud pots. Many people go to Costa Rica for just the Volcanos
alone so this is not one site to miss.
The earth is very fertile due to the volcanic activity
in park and has created a diverse view of different habitats. Bird
watching in the park is great and you will have the chance to see
around 300 types of birds including spectacled owls, curassows,
and toucanets.
In addition to a variety of birds, you will also
find sloths, deer, as well as Spider and Howler Monkeys. As always
in a tropical area, you will find many kinds of insects. Butterfly
lovers will also be pleasantly surprised with the many types of
beautiful butterflies in the park. .
Costa Rica is full of national parks and some more
are very close to the Spanish school in Tamarindo. The few listed

that Costa Rica offers that within quick reach from Tamarindo.
