Art Galleries
A path just west of La Lecheria
(the cheese factory) leads 400 meters uphill to the Sarah Dodwell
Watercolor Gallery, tel. 645-5047, where the local artist displays
her distinctive watercolors, which decorate the walls of many local
hotels. Admission is free. Much of Dodwell’s work in now on
display and for sale the Bromelia’s Gallery, 200 meters downhill.
Near by, is Galerla Extasis displaying marvelously creative works
(see the Shopping section, below).
The Hummingbird Gallery (Galeria
Colibri), tel. 645-5030, is 100 meters below the entrance to the
Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. It features the photography
of Monteverde residents Michael and Patricia Fogden. Prints, slides,
T-shirts, and handicrafts from throughout Central America are for
sale. Feeders outside the gallery attract a wide variety of hummingbirds.
And the Monteverde Studios of
the Arts displays works spanning the spectrum of the arts.
