Mountain Biking

Estrella Tour

The surrounding mountains and jungles of Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park provide a perfect setting for every mountain bike riding level. Guided tours are available to explore hidden waterfalls, traverse steamy jungle paths and thrill at glorious coastal vistas from the mountains above. Estrella Tour provides late model mountain bikes in excellent condition, all with front suspension and modern components.

Quepos Mountain Biking at its Best

Bilingual tours are organized by Stefano and Roberta Tomirotti, champion cyclists, naturalists, and directors of the Quepos mountain bike team. You will be amazed by the number of colorful birds, mammals and other exotic creatures encountered along the way. Mist-filled jungles, hidden waterfalls and unworldly views await you in these adrenalin-charged adventures. In addition to the regularly offered mountain bike tours below, Estrella Tour can customize an adventure to perfectly suit your needs.

Estrella Tour at a Glance

In early 1994 the first Estrella Tour began mountain biking in Quepos and the surrounding area trying to discover and open many new cycling trails. They offer a variety of tours to accommodate all levels. Their tours lead you through the rain forest, to typical farms, local beaches, and on one of their most popular tours -- a bike/boat combo -- you'll find yourself floating through a mangrove forest.

Their entertaining guides are not only trained to pedal, but also to provide every level of assistance that may be needed. The guides are prepared in emergency bike mechanics, first aid, and in making sure that beginners have as much fun as advanced cyclists. Wherever your tour takes you, there will likely be lots of animals which the expert guides will help you identify. It is not uncommon to see a wild tolomuco cross your path or to have a covey of white hawks spiral around your head. You may even see a giant toucan or the elusive scarlet macaw.

The tours often take time to rest and swim in the crystal clear waters of a remote stream, near a waterfall if possible. Some of the tours take you to rural homes or typical ranches where delicious meals are served to restore your energy.

Lightweight aluminum Specialized and GT bicycles equipped with front Rock Shox suspension and Shimano components are used. For your safety, helmets are available in a variety of comfortable sizes. The staff enjoy giving personalized tour recommendations based on your current physical condition, level of training and the type of workout you are looking for. They strive to ensure that your tour is the best and safest possible, and that you have a truly wonderful experience.
