Wildlife
Bolivia

some of the most isolate and wild regions of the Amazon basin. The
thick forests here are untouched and unspoiled and is one of the
best places on the continent for viewing South American wildlife.

and can be found everywhere. Although the seem benign they can get
nasty when disturbed. Vicunas can be seen along the southwestern
region of the country. The vicunas are often hunted down for their
hides which can fetch a good price in the illicit market. Although
they are now protected their numbers are declining in the wild.
Other animals abundant in the southwestern andes are foxes, hue
mules and wolves. One third the species of birds in the world can
be found here in Bolivia.
Flamingos, Rheas, condors, vultures are commonly
seen on the highlands and plains of the altiplano. some animals
that inhabit the remote valleys of the cordillera include pumas,
jaguar, javeli, tapirs and giant anteaters. These animals are very
elusive and are very difficult to spot. There are also a huge variety
of lizards, parrots, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, amphibians, fish
and bugs. Other creatures include dolphins, otters, armadillos and
sloths.
