Argentina:
Getting To & Around The Country
Taxi Service
The larger cities and towns in Argentina have
excellent taxi service, that run around the clock in most cases.
You will find that taxi rates to be fixed, which means they are
the same during the day or during the night. Each city or town
sets the official taxi rates. Taxis should all have meters, so
make sure your driver is using the meter before you set off.
Buse Service
Bus service is common throughout Argentina. You
can find a bus to get around the city starting from very early
in the morning till late in the evening. By our standards the
cost of using a bus is very inexpensive.
Getting around Argentina you can make use of the many long distance
bus companies. In most cases these buses are modern and comfortable.
Rail Service
Today the Argentina rail system is slowly being
privatized. From Buenos Aires it is possible to catch a train
to various parts of the country. You will find both first and
second class coaches, sleeping cars and of course dining cars
on the longer distance lines.
Within Buenos Aires you have a modern metro system. Using the
metro you can get to many points of interest quickly and cheaply.
The metro stations are well marked within the city.
Air Travel
There
are a many international flights into Buenos Aires on a daily
basis. Additionally from Buenos Aires it is easy and relatively
inexpensive to catch a domestic flight to most areas you may be
interested in going to. Due to the size of Argentina, domestic
air travel tends to be the most efficient way to get around this
country.
