International Airport
The international airport servicing Buenos Aires
is located about 20 miles outside of the downtown area and is
known as Ezeiza. Airlines from around the world service this airport
on a daily basis. Taxi service is readily available to and from
the airport. Additionally shuttle service is possible as well.
Bus
Buenos Aires has an extensive and relatively
modern bus system. Utilizing a bus you can easily and inexpensively
get around Buenos Aires without difficulty. Long distance bus
service from Buenos Aires is available to pretty much every other
part of Argentina. For long distance trips it is advisable to
get a ticket at least a day in advance.
Car
As can be expected for a city this large, traffic
in Buenos Aires is pretty heavy throughout the day. If you do
decide to rent a car, fortunately the city is laid out on a grid
which will help you figure out how to get where you need to go.
Different parts of the city have different traffic regulations,
so please be aware of them before you start driving around.
Boat
From Buenos Aires one can catch daily ferry
service to both Colinia and Montevideo, Uruguay. The ferries typically
are modern and comfortable and the ferry rides are do not take
to terribly long. Plan ahead a little bit if you plan on going
over the weekend or during the holidays. Tickets for the ferry
service can be purchased online.
Train
Buenos Aires has South America's oldest underground
railway. It opened in 1913 and is still quick and efficient. The
rail lines are used to reach Buenos Aires' suburbs. It presently
consists of five lines that run from downtown to the outskirts.
